Sin Sun Korean BBQ
From 2017 to early 2018 I had a KBBQ phase. I craved it weekly. I was like a KBBQ monster who'd jump at the proposal to dine with friends just so I can suggest a korean bbq restaurant and eat to my heart's content.
Although I usually don't eat at buffets, I make an exception for Korean bbq. There's just something amazing with lettuce-wrapped thinly sliced beef dipped in ssamjang (the spicy red dipping sauce).
Sin Sun has ridiculous queues during the weekend and in the evening. They operate late into the night (closing at early morning!) so expect a lot of people even at past 10 pm. There's very little available waiting space too, so you might want to have someone wait at the door while the rest of your party hang out at the nearby convenience store.
The guard gives a button-shaped cardboard with a number on it. That's your queue number. If you miss it, I think the guard allows you to go next (or after a couple of those in queue). That's what happened to us. We also waited for around 2 hours on a weekday evening.
Thankfully, the two-hour waiting time was worth it. Well, it depends on your preference. The venue is far from pristine and those who prefer clean restaurants might not want to dine here. But the food is above average.
So I always base my kbbq on their plain, unmarinated beef cuts - usually thinly sliced brisket. It allows me to enjoy beef (if I wanted pork, I can easily make that at home) and determine if the quality is good.
The outstanding parts of Sin Sun were:
But if there's anything that stood out, it's definitely the seafood soup. Spicy and tastes like the sea in a thin broth. As I'm typing this I miss it already. But not enough to queue for two hours again.
TFD's rating - ♡♡♡

The side dishes are pretty good, too. |
